  • Renee, I don't think you're tracking the argument properly. Manufacturing resuable bags consumes much more energy, and releases much more carbon, than manufacturing disposable plastics.

  • And who are you to decide that that is now something everyone has to do? Sure, it may seem easy and like it fits well with your life, but deflate your ego for a minute and realize that you are not everybody, and people may have different lives and needs than you.

  • Marlane--yeah, and when you were a kid, there were only 3 tv stations, you couldn't carry your phone in your pocket, food borne illness was much more common, etc. Sure, we did things differently in the past, and did them that because nothing had yet been invented to make those chores easier.

  • Mikedp--must be nice just to ignore facts that don't comport with your world view. But it takes just a few seconds on google to find comparison points on the relative energy consumption of manufacturing reusable bags versus plastics. Not all reach the 10 year mark, but here's a sampling.

  • First, it's incredibly poor logic to argue that because the state imposes some restrictions, we should not consider this restriction inappropriate.
